Hello beautiful you,
I was on the phone to my granny earlier this week - she's been equally excited about my recent knitting obsession as well as me starting my own vege garden at home. It must feel like a sort of passing down of the reigns as someone who's always lived off the land and grown her own food throughout her life. We were speaking about how long and brutal this year's winter felt, but how sweet and blissful this spring is feeling. I said I don't think I've felt a spring this good in years!
That's probably partly due to the fact that the entry into the last few springs were anything but normal. But, I can't be alone in feeling the magic of this Spring! It hasn't even been overly warm in Melbourne yet (I'm still layered up with thick jumpers and socks today), but the sprinkles of sunshine, vision of flowers and trees blooming, longer days (thank you daylight savings!) and sheer desire to want to spend more time outside, honestly feels like heaven on earth.
I think this soft bliss I am currently feeling has also been cultivated through the support of my first Japa journey, something I spoke to you about last month. For those unfamiliar, Japa is a meditative practice where you repeat a mantra across your 108 Mala beads, 3 rounds a day for 40 days. I can really say, gifting this time to show up for myself everyday, has been nothing short of transformational. I'm no longer in a constant state of fight or flight and I finally feel like I have reconnected with myself. I haven't felt this present in a LONG time!
This whole intro might sound a bit woo woo to you 🙈 but that's ok!! I suppose the main message here is, if you're feeling a bit lost, if you're feeling a lack of connection and purpose, I would like to give you some hope. Hope that there is a way out of there. There is another way to live, a way that actually feels blissful. And frankly, we deserve to feel bliss! Each and every one of us. We don't have to dig our heels in and settle for the uncomfy feelings, and think "well this is just the world we live in". I promise you, if you are feeling like there is a better way, there is.
During the bliss of this spring, I am going to be emodying joy, embracing creativity, cultivating connection and an immersion in nature. Basically I'm going to be welcoming anything and everything that makes me feel good 💛
In other news, there has been LOTS of fun biz stuff going on. One of my BEAUTIFUL OG clients Bud of Love finally opened their IRL wine store and bar. Proud is an understatement. If you're a Melbournian, you'll have to pop in for a wine at their Footscray bar 🍷
I was also on two(!!) podcasts this month. The first was a beautiful chat with Coco from Good Boss. I shared a story about a tricky situation with a client early on and how you can take "bad" experiences to sharpen up your processes. We also chatted about finding your style, attracting your dream clients and stepping into your true self as a designer and person. Listen here!
The second was a SUPER fun chat with Danielle from This Creative Life, I shared a little bit about my super creative (and cool af) grandparents, and how my creative life was almost "destined" as it's so in my blood. We talked about the highs and lows of creativity - it was generally just a good honest, fun chat about the realities of being a creative. You can listen here.
Phew!! Another long intro again. Ok! Let's get into the fun stuff!
Oooooh I adore this moody, silky, psychadelic font, Summer Glow by Get Studio.

We simply cannot place our validation and/or fulfilment on an algorithm.
6// The power of manifestation and setting intention is mind blowing.
Last week a prompt popped up on my Spotify to create a playlist for me to get ready to. It asked me to put in my outfit colours, what I'm getting dressed up for, etc. and it would create a playlist suited to the ~ vibe ~!!
Ok I might have told a couple of white lies - I wasn't actually getting dressed to go anywhere. It was a Tuesday afternoon at 3pm and I had a moment of distraction at my desk. But anyway!!! Spotify created a funky playlist for me with a mix of Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake and other fun tunes which instantly lifted my mood. The power of music hey!!!
So, if you're feeling a bit uninspired, might I suggest asking Spotify to help you create a new fun playlist to lift the mood, or searching the thousands of playlists available on the app 🤪
Here's a funky disco/house playlist I created during lockdown: Lize Designs Studio Sounds.
Well, I gave a spoiler in the intro of this email, but I just planted my own vege garden last weekend! A mix of herbs, leaves, chillis and sweet corn has got me so excited. I can officially add #vegemom to my resume 😂 They are seriously like my babies though. I have been going out to check on them every morning, eager to see if they've grown overnight haha!!
As well as planting my new vege garden, I'm just trying to get outside a little more. Now the weather is much nicer and the days are longer, I've got a deep desire to just be outside. It's making me feel so excited, energised and creative.
Can I also encourage you to get outside a little more?
Thank you so much for being here and making it to the end of my newsletter. I know our inboxes can get flooded with ‘stuff’ so I feel honoured that I have a space in yours 💖
Lots of love from ya quirky, colourful creative, Lize xxx
Seeya next month!
